A new update to the Spotify extension in Facebook’s Messenger app allows users to create group playlists with other Messenger users inside the app without being required to open the music app.
Spotify is updating its extension within Facebook Messenger very soon and now allows users to create Group Playlists within the messaging app from the social media app. Users are able to share and collaborate on the playlist with their friends on Facebook.
How to Use the Updated Spotify Extension
To use the updated version of the extension, users simply need to tap on the plus symbol on Facebook Messenger, open the Spotify tab, and select the “Create group playlist” button. Regardless of if a user has an account with the music app or not, users will be able to add songs to the playlist without needing to leave the Messenger app.
The update is rolling out to the extension which is made by the music streaming service, not to the actual Facebook Messenger app, so users don’t need to update the app itself from the Play Store.
Spotify has a bot on the Messenger and a blog post on their blog that explains the new feature of the extension in full. The blog post can be found here.
